Plenitude is one of Europe's premier solar PV energy providers, offering everything from planning, to installation, to implementation. Many see photovoltaic technology as key to energy communities. It must be well-utilised and properly designed from the start. It’s important not to over- or under-install panels. Effective design tailored to the application, especially for energy communities, is essential.
These systems must be monitored, maintained, and optimised to provide maximum value throughout their lifespan, which now often exceeds 25 years. This means monitoring not just the production but also the consumption to maximise physical self-consumption, which has intrinsic value, as well as the value of grid injection and sharing within the community. These must be balanced carefully, particularly in energy communities, as grid injection values can vary significantly.
Regarding incentives for energy communities, the current tariff incentives are well-calibrated to support and maintain economic balance. However, over 20 years, conditions can change and usage patterns can shift, affecting the economic balance. Therefore, continuous monitoring and engagement are necessary to ensure all participants are aware of and can address issues promptly.
For this reason, user-friendly apps are crucial. They provide immediate, clear information on energy use, helping participants adjust their behaviour without complex tools. The success of such apps depends on their simplicity and ease of use.
